Marching MountaineersJoin us October 2-3 for Appalachian State's Homecoming and Marching Mountaineer Alumni Weekend!

When is the Marching Mountaineer Alumni Weekend?

Friday-Saturday, October 2 and 3, 2015 – Wyoming @ Appalachian State game. This is also Appalachian State's Homecoming Weekend. Kick-off time is TBA as late 6 days before game day, but keep checking the website for our Alumni and Homecoming schedule.

What events will be held as part of Alumni Weekend?

We're encouraging all Marching Mountaineer alumni to take place in APPtoberfest and Alumni Beer Garden. Use this time on Duck Pond Field to grab a bite to eat from one of our local food trucks, take in the sights and sounds of the pep rally and fireworks display, then relax in our Alumni Beer Garden as you enjoy catching up with old friends and making new ones. The Bantum Rooster Band will provide the background music- covering classic songs from the 80s, 90s, and now. Drink packages are available for purchase in advance or at the door; RSVP is not required. All ages are welcome, but a valid ID confirming 21+ is required for beverage service .

All Marching Band alumni will also be invited to Saturday's rehearsal where there will be an opportunity to meet current Band members. Depending on game time, either a tailgate event or an evening barbecue will take place between the Broyhill Music Center and Walker Hall (Walker Lawn).

Will Alumni Marching Band members be performing in the stands or at halftime?

No. While we hope to incorporate an alumni band performance in the future, this year we are focusing on bringing alumni back to campus and encouraging engagement between former and current members – enjoy our events, the game, and each other's company!

What type of recognition will Alumni Marching Band members receive?

Alumni Marching Band members will receive special recognition during the football game. This will include marching in with the band during pre-game (Note: only Alumni Marching Band members will be permitted to march in with the band – no family members or friends will be permitted).

How will tickets be purchased?

Single game tickets go on sale August 4, 2015. Tickets are available on a first come-first served basis, so visit appstatesports.com to get your tickets soon!

Where is the Marching Mountaineer Alumni ticket block?

We won't know the exact ticket block location until closer to gameday, but we will try and seat alumni and their families alongside the Marching Mountaineer Band section. If you have special seating requests, please make them known during the ticket purchasing process.

What is the availability of hotel rooms?

Appalachian football fans plan their Boone trips very early. However, it has been our experience that plans change by gameday and we suggest you keep calling hotels in Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Lenoir, etc. for availability. There may be a 2-night minimum required.

How will information be sent to me?

Information will be e-mailed to all Marching Mountaineer Alumni that have profiles with Appalachian's Goldbook directory. Please ensure your information is as up to date as possible by visiting http://alumni.appstate.edu/gold-book.

What is the $20 registration fee?

The mission of the Band Advancement Fund is to support the current Marching Mountaineers. The $20 registration fee includes covering the cost of events associated with our Alumni Weekend: your meal, your nametags, any printed materials, and cost of alumni communication. Any surplus in funds from this fee go directly back to the Marching Mountaineer's for their immediate use for program expenses (instrument repairs or purchases, uniform costs, etc.) or student scholarships. While we hope each of you will help support this weekend, and the Marching Mountaineers, this fee is not mandatory. Simply indicate your desire to opt out of this fee.

What is required, though, is all other registration information. However, we hope that you value your Marching Mountaineer experience and can contribute the $20 fee to support the current members (thank you).
